The joy of friends spam
So much for that. If some clueful LJ type (Tangerinpenguin? Anyone?) knows how to reset the fisherbearrclp feed, I'm all ears. If not, I suppose the posts will rot eventually...

Final friends spam (I hope)
The good news: the RSS feed works. Just go to http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=fisherbearrclp and click on the link. (Thanks, hiker_chick and tangerinpenguin!)

The bad news: when you first sign up, it dumps ten posts at once, all with the same date. I really hope LJ doesn't make a habit of that. (I think I have it set now so that it will at least refrain from flooding the page with the *full text* of all ten posts at once.)

More friends list spam
OK, www.fisherbear.net should now be available through RSS. I don't actually know how LJ uses RSS feeds, so I'll be curious to hear how it works out.

Other than that, it's been a slow week:

1. No, heaven stocks the other kind of harp...
2. Smoking the Good Stuff
3. Apple vs. History

I'll be posting some photo-related stuff over the next couple days.

Time to spam JauntHie's friends list again
Yesterday JauntHie bugged me again about moving my weblog (www.fisherbear.net) over to LiveJournal. It's not going to happen (I like my Geeklog calendar way too much, and I'm having fun playing around with PHP) but she has convinced me to at least post a summary here on LJ, just to improve the odds that people notice it. Apparently the idea is that people read her friends list, and some of them might add me to their friends lists, and eventually my summaries might creep through the friends-list-o-sphere like some kind of slowly updating virus.

I can get behind that. Here goes.

Current topics on the fisherbear front page, in the order they were posted:

1. Art (qua logorrhea) -- when mailing lists attack [rant]
Communication's a wonderful thing, when you can get it. This is a post about some people who don't. I'm one of them.

2. Better late than never [politics]
Notes on some extremely belated kudos to the exaggerator who wasn't.

3. Newt and Hillary, sitting in a tree... [politics]
Why the recent Gingrichian kissy face really shouldn't surprise anyone.

4. Sleeping on the couch again [general]
TV messes with my brain again.

5. Pro-Life (just not yours) [politics]
Right-wing lobbyists explain why diseases are good.

6. It never rains but... [politics]
Ideology isn't the only reason the GOP puts a muzzle on public data. Greed helps, too.

7. If you believe this... [politics]
An open letter in which I offer a bridge to Senator Richard Santorum (R-Penn).

8. Is that thing digital? [photography]
Reflections on the Street Fair, or, Giving a Museum Piece a Chance.

9. Striking a blow for equality, redneck style [rant]
A race car driver takes a stand for equal opportunity.

10. Sometimes it's digital after all [photography]
Notes on playing with other people's toys.

Anyway, it looks like I'm pretty consistently posting 3-4 times per week. Hope to see some more people there!

I, too, have joined the blogging masses
The web site is www.fisherbear.net, and I've fixed enough of the obvious bugs that it's at least functional enough to visit. Comments are welcome on form, content, or both. It's based on Geeklog and I have the source code, so I can do pretty much anything I like with it.

It looks like I'm more interested in short essays and links to news items that amuse me than in keeping an online diary, not that that's kept me from bitching about hay fever season.

There's a permanent link in the sidebar on JauntHie's LJ; I'll add one to my LJ page if I ever get around to learning how (or talk JauntHie into doing it for me.)

(Edit: I have no plans to check my LJ page more than once a month; I only keep this account for posting to other people's blogs. Oh, and occasionally for spamming people who read JauntHie's friends page.)

Footloose and content free
I'm just here to send comments to my friends, and they know who I am.
